Carmelo Rivera, 63, of Lorain passed away Friday, May 12, 2017 at University Hospital in Cleveland following a long illness. He was born November 13, 1953 in Ponce, Puerto Rico and was a resident of Lorain for most of his life.
Carmelo worked at the Elyria Foundry for 37 years. He enjoyed wood working, spending time with his grandchildren and playing with his dogs.
Survivors include his wife of 18 years, Cynthia L. (nee Weese): sons, Alex (Kimberly) Rivera, Carmelito Rivera, Matthew (Stephanie) Rivera, Joshua Rivera, Bobby Kilzer, Billy (Laura) Kilzer, and Craig Kilzer: 13 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren: brothers, Edwin (Yolanda) and Ramon (Marybell) Rivera.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, May 17, 2017 from 5:00 – 8:00 pm at the Wyers-Bollinger Funeral Chapel, 2900 North Ridge Road, Elyria. Services will be Thursday at 12:00 pm in the funeral home. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon.
