Allen Anderson, 56 of Cleveland, passed away on Monday, January 6 following an automobile accident. He was an Eagle Scout in his younger days, and then was a veteran of the US Army. He loved fishing, camping, riding his Honda 1300 motorcycle, and being the life of the party. He was loud, boisterous, and loved to have fun. He enjoyed playing Trivial Pursuit; was a roller coaster fanatic; a model airplane and train enthusiast; and the best friend anyone could have. Al was known for his great bear hugs and was the kindest and most generous man.
To know Al was to love him. His friends called him Big Al, probably for his big heart. He was the type of person that would give the shirt off his back to anyone who needed it. If you were his friend, you were his friend for life. He has left a huge hole in all of our hearts that will never fully heal, but we will take comfort in knowing that he is in a better place and at peace.
Al is survived by his siblings, Barbara Wood (Jim), Robert Anderson (Debbie), and Melissa Hamski; nieces and nephews, Jessica Dawes, Oliver Wood, Elizabeth Wesle, Sarah Kretschmer, Robert Anderson, Benjamin Anderson, Ashley Johnson, Samantha Kaufman, and Christine Hamski; many cousins, and great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Lottie Anderson, and sister, Tammy Anderson.
A celebration of Al’s life will be planned in the future.
Wyers-Bollinger Funeral Chapel is honored to be assisting the family at this time.
