Barbara A. Smigel

Barbara A. Smigel (nee Kontra), 66 of Parma, passed away on November 20, 2021. She had worked for many years in the Accounts Payable department at Our Lady of the Wayside. Barb had a smile that would light up a room. She loved taking care of others and was known for her funny, quick wit, patience, and generosity. Barbara was a devoted, loving mother who was simply the best person in the world. Besides tending to her family and others, she also loved gardening her flowers and plants and playing video games on the computer. Barbara will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Barb is survived by her adoring children, Kara Smigel, Rebecca Lash (David), and Lisa Dylewski (Theodore); grandchildren, Caleb Abshear and Noelle Dylewski; siblings, Janice Vhynalek (Robert), John “Jack” Kontra (Barbara), Kenneth Kontra, Sandra Wheeler (Lawrence), and James Kontra (Donna); along with many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Genevieve Kontra; and her brother, Thomas Kontra

The family will receive friends at the Wyers-Bollinger Funeral Chapel, 2900 N. Ridge Rd., E., Sheffield Twp. on Monday from 6-8pm. A Memorial Mass will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church, 7367 York Rd., Parma on Tuesday, November 30 at 10am.
