Dolores Mae Brooks, age 89 of Avon Lake, passed away on Monday, May 7, 2018. She was born on April 11, 1929 to Stanley and Sylvia Manak. Dolores, “Dolly” grew up in Cleveland, OH. She attended St. Stephen High School where she was class president and graduated in 1947. Dolores worked as a secretary at Hausser & Heintel and Local 38 IBEW.
She married Bob Brooks on June 14, 1952. They moved to Avon Lake in 1955, raising 7 children.
Dolores accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior when she was 45 years old and this became the most important relationship in her life. Her love for her family and friends (and there are MANY) is a reflection of her love for Jesus.
Dolores is survived by her children, Jim Brooks (Deloris), Laurie Kidwell (Jeff), Sandy Brooks, Bob Brooks (Jodee), Dan Brooks (Wendy), Tom Brooks (Lynn) and Mary Lee Davis (Duane); 25 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and sisters, Laverne “Bunny” Therens and Patricia Burns.
She dearly loved spending one week each summer with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren at Lakeside, Ohio. Dolores is a longtime member of Anchor Church (formerly Calvary Baptist Church) in Avon Lake where she served as a deaconess and Sunday school teacher. During her retirement, she filled her time by helping others in her family, church, and community.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Main Street Care Center for all of their loving care.
There will be a Celebration of her Life on Saturday, June 2 at 11am at Anchor Church in Avon Lake.
