Enrique Rosa Fonseca

Enrique Rosa Fonseca, 88, passed away at Lorain Mercy Hospital from Cardiac Arrest on Monday, February 27, 2023. He was born October 10, 1935 in San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico, and was one of four children to parents, Isabel Rosa and Catalina Fonseca (both deceased). He moved to Lorain, Ohio when he was 23 years old.

Enrique worked in farming throughout most of his life. He enjoyed joking and singing country music. He was known as El Jibarito de San Lorenzo.

Enrique is survived by his children, Marylyn, Evelyn, and Enrique Rosa of San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico; sisters, Aurora Rosa, Lydia Elena Rodriguez (nee Delgado), and Milagros Esteras (nee Delgado); brothers, Carmelo Rosa Fonseca of Lorain, Ohio, and Jose Antonio Delgado; grandchildren, Jose Enrique Vega, Felix Xavier Vega, and Bianca Mar Davila; great grandchildren, Lara Catalina Vega and Gio Endrick Vega; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Enrique was preceded in death by his parents, Isabel Rosa and Catalina Fonseca Borges (nee Delgado), spouse, Arcadia Gomez; step father, Julio Gomez Delgado; and sister, Aurelia Rosa.

The family is grieving privately, and appreciate all family and friends’ prayers during this time. They would also like to thank the residents from Sacred heart Manor and the staff from Fraternal Home Care for all the care and compassion that was given to Enrique.

There will be a private family viewing from 10:00 am to 10:40 am on Monday, March 6, 2023 at Wyers-Bollinger Funeral Chapel, 2900 N. Ridge Rd., Elyria, followed by the Mass at Sacred Heart Chapel, 4301 Pearl Ave., Lorain, conducted by Fr. William Thaden.  After the conclusion of the service, a luncheon will be held at Sacred Heart Chapel Hall.
