Gladys Arnell Hill passed away March 13, 2018. She was born on December 18, 1933. She was the fifth child born to Tommie and Ruth (Bryant) Hill in Cowan, TN. Gladys completed her education in the Franklin County, Tennessee school system, where she was very active in High School sports. She was an outstanding basketball player, and her senior year she was crowned Miss Townsend.
In May 1952, Gladys Arnell joined the U.S Air Force. During her seven years of service, she was promoted to an E6 (Sergeant). In May, 1959 she received an honorable discharge and moved to Cleveland, Ohio, where she lived for more than 57 years.
Gladys was employed at the Cleveland Clinic and at C.P.I., where she retired in 2008. Gladys Arnell believed in Christ and was a member of the Catholic Church.
Gladys Arnell leaves to cherish her memory with four sisters: Ernestine Hill and Maria Butler, of Nashville, TN; Sallye Jean Speight of New Castle, PA; Patilla Corn of Elyria, OH. Two brothers Albert (Gladys) Hill of Nashville, TN and Charles Hill of Anchorage, Alaska. She also leaves to cherish her memory, her caregiver and niece, Rochell Corn. A host of nephews, nieces, great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
Gladys Arnell is proceeded in death by her mother Ruth E. Bryant Hill, father, William Henry (Tommie) Hill, Sr., Brother, William Henry Hill, Jr., and Sister Ruth Evelyn (Hill) Brasier.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, May 20 at 3:00 at the Wyers-Bollinger Funeral Chapel, 2900 N. Ridge Road, Sheffield Twp.
