Ira Maggard, Sr., 92 of Lorain passed away on Wednesday, January 31, 2024. He was a US Army veteran of the Korean Conflict from 1953-1955. Ira retired from US Steel after 35 years. He was quite the jokester and was the king of Dad jokes. He loved working on cars and walking with the love of his life, his late wife Shelby whom he married in 1955. He also loved his grandchildren and spending time with his family. He will be greatly missed by them all.
Ira is survived by his loving children, Carolyn Kucbel (Jim), Ira Maggard Jr. (Denise), Thomas Maggard (Laure), Paula White, and Brenda Preston (Jeff); his beloved grandchildren, James Kucbel, Brian Kucbel, Timothy Maggard, Donald Maggard, Thomas Maggard, Ashley Barnovsky, Daniel Horning, Carolyn MacDonald, Nathan Horning, Cody Preston, Shelbee Preston, Kylee Trautwein, and Nicholas Preston; 23 great grandchildren; and brother Carl Kelly.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Shelby; parents, Thomas and Eliza Maggard; and nine siblings.
Visitation will be held Friday, February 2 from 5-7pm at the Wyers-Bollinger Funeral Chapel, 2900 N. Ridge Rd., Sheffield Twp. The funeral service will be at the funeral home on Saturday at 11am followed by the burial at Ridge Hill Memorial Park.
