Jimmy Ray Copley

Jimmy Ray Copley, 74 of Lorain, Ohio, passed away January 3, 2025. Born on October 18, 1950 in Webb, West Virginia to Emma Jean (Evans) Carroll. He spent his early years in Crum, West Virginia before moving to Lorain, Ohio, where he spent most of life.

He is survived by daughters, Jamie (Nick) Sansom and Heather Copley; grandsons, Aedan and Dean Sansom; sister, Hope (Mark) Watkin; brother, Ira Ray "Bud" (Tammy) Copley Jr.; sister, Bonnie (Jim) Newell; as well step-grandchildren, Garrikk and Hannah Smalley. He also leaves behind several cousins, nephews and nieces, as well as our good friend Hector Morales who Jimmy loved like a son. He was preceded in death by his mother, Emma Jean Carroll; stepfather, Howard Carroll,;brother, Roger Manns; sister, Glenna (David) Agin; aunt and uncle, Emaline (Linie) and Wilbur (Ray) Copley.

Jimmy attended Lorain High School before being drafted to the Army. Upon his return, he started his employment at U.S. Steel where he worked until retirement. He enjoyed spending time with his family, camping, fishing, boating on Lake Erie, cookouts and trips to Cedar Point. Jimmy also found joy in riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle and attending concerts with his family, he loved rock n roll! He was an avid Cleveland Browns fan who never gave up hope! He had a love for dogs and his English bulldogs were his constant companions. 

Jimmy will be greatly missed for his charm, humor, pranks, teasing, laughter and stubborn ways. To honor Jimmy's wishes there will not be a funeral service but a celebration of life at a later date.
