Johnnie Marie Martin

Johnnie Marie Martin (nee Easterwood) passed away on Friday, April 19, 2024. She was the daughter of the late Donald and Raford Lee “Sally” Easterwood. She was born on December 24, 1950, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Johnnie lived in Birch River, West Virginia with her husband of 40 years, Harold Martin. She worked as a cook at the Jimmy Swaggert Bible College in Louisiana. She followed that by owning her own housecleaning business in Hollywood, Florida. Johnnie retired due to medical reasons from Beckett Air in Ohio.

Some of her favorite past times included fishing, crafts, gardening, and antique and thrift shopping. She was a collector of many things, but most of all she had a fondness for hand blown glass. She loved to dance to old time rock and roll, and she loved to laugh and made friends everywhere she went. Above all things, she loved her family and friends dearly. Her legacy is one of love, faith and selflessness. Her life was a living example of kindness and unwavering love. She will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Johnnie is survived by her husband, Harold Martin of Birch River, West Virginia; her sister, Patricia Hernandez (Arnold) of Louisiana; her sister, Sandra Fleming (Mike) of Florida; her daughter, Ann Leach (Steve) of Wellington, Ohio; granddaughter, Laura Evans (Zach) of Elyria, Ohio; grandson, Kody Evans (Briana) of Oberlin, Ohio; and her canine companion, George Jay.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Sam Easterwood; her stepson, David Martin; and her son, William Harold Evans, Jr.

The family will receive friends at the Wyers-Bollinger Funeral Chapel, 2900 N. Ridge Rd., Sheffield Twp. on Saturday, April 27 from 2:00 - 3:00 pm, with a memorial service beginning at 3:00 pm.
