Lawrence "Larry" Mendoza, age 94, peacefully passed away January 13, 2022 at Mercy Hospice in Lorain.
A longtime resident of Lorain, Ohio, he was a member of the former St Johns Baptist, now St Francis Xavier Cabrini, where he was devoted in his faith, served as an usher, sang in the choir, and participated in a cursillo. After many good years working at Energy Coating, Larry retired to enjoy family time. He was also an active member of the American Citizens Club and Mexican Mutual. He served in the Army honorably and was discharged with the rank of Corporal after serving in Germany from 1950-1952.
Larry was born in Campbell, Ohio to his devoted parents, Lorenzo and Armalinda Mendoza, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his foster parents, Juan and Gregoria Segovia; brother, Sacarias "Joe" Mendosa; sisters, Consuelo Mendosa, Catherine Mendoza, Maria Lupe Segoria, and Margarita Perez; and niece, Pamela Mendosa. He is survived by his beloved sister, Stella Guzman and many, many beloved nephews and nieces that loved him so very much.
Larry often said with great affection that he was proudest of being a "Great"; great uncle, great great uncle and a great great great uncle. He enjoyed bowling in leagues in his younger years, and watching sports with his nephews. He cherished his visits with family, and was, above all, a storyteller. His love for laughter and his quick wit will always be remembered with a smile.
Visitation will be January 17th, 2022 from 5-7 PM at Wyers-Bollinger Funeral Chapel, 1900 N Ridge Rd, Elyria, Ohio 44035. Funeral Services will be Tuesday at 10 AM at St Francis Xavier Cabrini Roman Catholic Parish, 2143 Homewood Dr, Lorain, Ohio 44055.
