Kenneth E. Love, 94, of Amherst, passed away Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at Main Street Care Center in Avon Lake.
He was born May 16, 1923 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to the late George and Gunda (Gulbransen) Love. Ken moved to Lorain County in 1948 from Minnesota, and was a resident of Lorain for most of his live.
He was a World War II U.S. Army Veteran, serving in the 88th. Division 351 Regiment, Company L. Ken was wounded on June 3, 1944. He was taken as a P.O.W on February 11, 1945 in Moosburg, Germany, in Stalag 7-A, until he was liberated by General Patton in April 1945. Foot soldier Kenneth Love served in Africa, Sicily, Italy, Austria, France, Germany and England. Serviceman Love was stationed the majority of his time in Italy. He received the Victory Medal, Bronze Star, Purple Heart and Good Conduct Medals.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman and was a trade cabinet maker. Ken was a life member of the Disabled Vets, VFW and EX- Prisoners of War.
Ken is survived by daughters, Judy Adamson and Bonnie Love – Henline (Bill): grandchildren, Melissa, Christy and Sean: great grandchildren, Lori, Michael, Eric, Chaz, Nik and Alaina: great great granddaughter, Cheyenne.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Leona M. (Ellis): daughters, Sandy Nuss (Bill) and Lynne Adamson, grandsons, Chad Landes and Brian Belanger, a great granddaughter, Kelli Lynn Worther, a sister, Helen Bendickson and brothers, Harold, Norman and Auston Love.
The family will receive friends Saturday, March 10, 2018 from 1-3 pm at the Wyers-Bollinger Funeral Chapel, 2900 North Ridge Road, Sheffield Twp..
Private burial will be at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
