Marilyn Milagros Vellon, affectionately known as Maria or Grandma Lady, passed away peacefully on May 26, 2024, at the age of 67. She was born on June 6, 1956, in Humacao, Puerto Rico, and most recently resided in Lorain, OH.
Marilyn had a zest for life and was passionate about her favorite hobbies. She had a talent for crocheting and was known for her green thumb, tending to plants with loving care. But above all, Marilyn cherished spending time with her beloved children and grandchildren. She referred to them as her "little chocolate chips," a term of endearment that captured her love for her family.
In a loving relationship with Ludvin Solorzano, Marilyn found happiness and companionship. Together, they created cherished memories and brought joy into each other's lives.
Marilyn's legacy lives on through her children and grandchildren. She leaves behind Michelle Vellon, Cynthia Montanez, Jose Montanez, Carmen Montanez, Antonio Montanez, Desiree Vellon, Ricardo Sanchez, Dominic DeCredico, Morgan Kennell, Marcus & Matthew Flores, Olivia Montanez, Mikayla, Jaedin & Nyasia Gonzales, Kory, Abigail, Jasmin, Sebastian & Isaiah Montanez. Each one was a source of immense pride and love for Marilyn.
She is survived by her sister Ivonne Rivera, along with other relatives and friends who will miss her dearly.
One anecdote that embodies Marilyn's essence is the story of how she became the Grandma Lady. It all started when Ricardo, one of her grandchildren, saw her during a visit from out of state. He grabbed his mother's arm and asked, "Is that the grandma lady?" From that moment on, Marilyn embraced the nickname, becoming the Grandma Lady that her grandchildren will forever remember.
Marilyn Milagros Vellon will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Her warm smile, kind heart, and unwavering love for her family will forever be cherished. May she rest in eternal peace.
