Nina Phyllis Knechtges

August 28, 1930 — July 15, 2023

 

Nina P. Knechtges (née Spicuzza), one month short of 93, of Elyria, passed away July 15, 2023 after a brief illness, at the home of her daughter in Virginia. She was born in Shaker Heights, Ohio and was a lifelong resident of Elyria. She enjoyed her bridge club, golf, tennis, bowling and walking, and was an avid Browns and Indians fan.

Survivors include her son, Michael (Elizabeth); daughters, Michele (Ralph) Giorgio, Mary Ellen (Mike) Rademacher, Ann Marie, and Maureen (Dan) Severson; and seven grandchildren.

Nina was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Michael A. Knechtges in 2008; brother, Joseph Spicuzza, sister, Rosemary Beck; and her parents, August and Vincenza Spicuzza.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, July 31, 2023 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Elyria. The Reverend Charles T. Diedrick, will officiate. The family will receive visitors one hour prior to the Mass. Private family burial will be held at St. Mary Cemetery, Elyria at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests those who wish may make donations in memory of Nina to St. Mary or St. Jude Catholic Church in Elyria, or the charity of your choice.

Arrangements were entrusted to the Wyers-Bollinger Funeral Chapel.
