Norman T. Mike, 78 of North Ridgeville passed away peacefully on March 20, 2025. He was born on January 6, 1947, in Youngstown, Ohio to his loving parents Thomas and Pauline (nee Ignatz) Mike. Norman was a native to Youngstown for most of his life, having graduated in 1965 from Woodrow Wilson High School. He attended his years of college at Youngstown State University.
Norman worked for the Department of Defense as a software developer and systems analyst for nearly twelve years. Prior to that he was a Senior Advisory Software Engineer at IBM in Silicon Valley. He was a caring, loving father to his two children, daughter Nicole Klue (nee Mike) and his son and caregiver, Eli Mike. He will also be missed by his many friends and family.
During his lifetime his philanthropic efforts reached many. Norman was the recipient of the Department of Defense Distinguished Civilian Service Award. He was honored by The Walk to End Alzheimer's Champions Club for reaching special fundraising milestones. Donating time and blood, he frequented the Red Cross and Life Share. The Greater Cleveland Food Bank and many other local charities also felt his generosity. Volunteering on the Mills Creek Association Board of Directors, he was a versatile board member holding the Presidential role as well as other elected positions. He was the treasurer for the Mills Creek swim team, effortlessly helping full-time, while also working his normal job. He was the recipient of the Barb Dennison Outstanding Service Award, presented by the North Coast Swim League in 2016. Not only did humans benefit from his attention, but so did many furry friends - he especially enjoyed cuddling face to face with his dog.
Norman is survived by his children, daughter, Nicole Klue and her husband Jerel, and son, Eli Mike; grandchildren, Sofia, Stella and Tyler; brother, John Mike; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by Norman were his parents, Thomas and Pauline Mike; sister, Beverly Mike; and brothers, Albert and Thomas “Tom” Mike.
As per his wishes, his body will be cremated. The family will plan a celebration of life at a later time. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Greater Cleveland Food Bank.
