Phillip Owen Morton

Phillip Morton, 62, of Lorain, Ohio died peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on Wednesday, November 27th. Known for his love for the Lord, Phillip was a lifelong believer who faithfully attended and served at GrowPoint Church of Amherst, Ohio for over 30 years.

An Ohio State Buckeye, Phil was incredibly smart which led to his lifelong career in chemistry. He loved reading Wikipedia, applying his quick wit to writing jokes and parodies, and testing his knowledge by playing along with his favorite TV show, Jeopardy! every evening.

Always one to avoid the spotlight, Phil enjoyed bringing joy to others through the things he created. Whether it was handmade furniture, his annual traditional Christmas bread (Stöllen), video memories of life moments, or hand-crafted sausage, he dedicated himself to working hard on creating things that he could share with the people he loved.

Phillip was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Nancy, and his brothers Paul (Renee, surviving) and Daniel (Therese, surviving). He is survived by his wife, Sheila (née Kattas); children Andrew (Amber), Abigail (John Strader), Nancy (Shane Carpenter); grandchildren Alleric, Arlo, and Aurora; siblings David, Robert (Donna), Lowell (Jacalyn), and Rebecca Francis (Mark); along with many nieces and nephews and their families.

Visitations will be held on Saturday, December 7 from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm and from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Wyers-Bollinger Funeral Chapel, 2900 N Ridge Rd, Elyria, OH 44035. A visitation at GrowPoint Church, 780 Cooper Foster Park Rd, Amherst, OH 44001, will be held on Monday, December 9 at 10:00 am, followed by the service at 11:00 am.
