On September 29, 2023, Tracie Louise Umbel was surrounded by close friends and family when she passed; all while throwing an extraordinary and memorable 3-day tea party at her home. She was born March 15th, 1963 to James and Verónica Umbel (nee Lyons) in Amherst, where she remained a lifetime resident.
Tracie graduated from Amherst Steele in 1981, and was then employed for many years at Lorain County Automotive Systems. Tracie was a member of Your Son Our Savior Church in Lorain, where her son-in-law Shawn is a Pastor. She often cooked meals to host the events for the congregation continually, “Knocking everyone's socks off” with her infamous and family-inherited macaroni and potato salad recipes. She loved everything Pioneer Women, tattoos, and Las Vegas!
Tracie was an amazing mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and friend. Her family and friends were everything to her, and she loved all of them unconditionally. Additionally, she had a great adoration for all her furry, four-legged canine friends. She always greeted you with a smile and took care of everyone she loved.
As she is no longer in body, Tracie lives on in spirit and in the memories of her children; Albert “Anthony” Kopronica (Brooke) and Veronica Kirts (Shawn); grandchildren, Jayden Kopronica, Johnathan (Megan), Tyler (Trinity), Shawna, Sebastian, and Clayton Kirts; great grandchildren, Janae Kirts and Layla Kirts; her sister, Kellie Simmons; nephews, James and William Simmons; as well as her godchildren, Danielle Farley and Teresa Gerhardinger. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Veronica Umbel.
One of Tracie's favorite verses was John 11:25:26, where Jesus told her “I am the resurrection and the life; whoever believes in me, even if he dies, will live, and everyone who lives and believes in me will never die.” Her family and friends will love and miss her forever and a day, until they meet her again in Heaven.
The family has organized a celebration of life for Tracie on Saturday, October 14th, 2023 from 1:00 -4:00 pm at Amherst Health plex; 47160 Hollstein Dr, Amherst, OH 44001. As this is a potluck-style event, the family requests if possible, that family and friends bring a dish to share.
